My name is Luis (though most folks
call me Louie) and
I'm a Tejano journalist in New York City.
The bulk of my decade-long career has been in newsrooms working as a visual journalist. From coast to coast, I've been an art director, designer and illustrator for newspapers big (the New York Post) and small (the Victoria Advocate).
I'm also a writer, with a focus on writing about food and culture from the South Texas border. I've had reported pieces published in Texas Monthly, Texas Highways, The Los Angeles Times, and beyond. I on occasion review books for BookPage and co-host a queer, monthly film podcast called The Mixed Reviews.
